Got your mind on that much deserved break? Would you like to get away from all the hustle and bustle of city life? Why not go traveling around the Hawaiian Islands? Let me give you a brief tour around the famous Hawaiian Islands.

The Hawaiian Islands have everything that you could imagine a paradise would have. From its multicultural people with the aloha spirit to beautiful surroundings with warm, tranquil, sandy beaches merging with rain forests, heavenly waterfalls, and marvelous historical sites. There’s no place like Hawaii.

Hop around the Hawaiian Island chain and you will discover the beauty and uniqueness of each island. There are six major islands that you can easily visit in Hawaii…Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaii, or the “Big Island.” Each island offers a distinct and extraordinary experience. We invite you to explore Hawaii and find the most unique island experience for you, your family, or your business group.

First, I’ll show you the majestic island of Kauai. Kauai is about 20 minutes by air from Honolulu. Kauai is often called the Garden Isle due to its everlasting beauty, comparable enough to the Garden of Eden.

Things to do in Kauai:

Hike, boat, kayak, or take a helicopter ride to discover the magnificent beauty of the famous Na Pali Coast

Hike up to Waimea Canyon, dubbed as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” – a must see attraction when visiting Kauai

Go kayaking on the Wailua River

Second, is an island described to have an ageless and natural beauty, which is better known as the “Gathering Place,” the island of Oahu. It is a very geographically diverse island with mountains, dormant volcanoes, rainforests, and famous surf spots, all close to a bustling metropolitan city. There is no shortage of things to do here in this island.

Things to do in Oahu:

· Surf at the world renowned site in Oahu, the Waikiki Beach

· Sunbathe, watch world class surfers, or simply enjoy the beach on the North Shore

· Stop by Hawaii’s three most famous landmarks: Diamond Head, Punchbowl, and Koko Head craters

· Visit the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor

· Go see art galleries

· Be amazed at the architecture in Iolani Palace

· Dine and feast at five star restaurants

· Lastly, dress up, enjoy, have fun, and experience the nightlife in town

Third, get back to nature and find serenity in Molokai Island. The “Friendly Island” is free from traffic, high-rises, malls, and nightclubs. Molokai Island offers tranquility, seclusion, and most of all, adventure. It is ideal for those seeking peacefulness or simply just getting away from the bustling city life.

Things to do in Molokai:

· Take a hike through the spectacular Halawa Valley

· Learn about the famous leper colony in Molokai at the Kalaupapa National Historical Park. Accessible only by foot, mule, or plane so take your pick

· Go boating along the North Shore and see the world’s tallest sea cliffs

Fourth is Lanai, Hawaii’s most enticing island – perfect for that idyllic and romantic setting. If you are looking for a luxurious resort, world class golf course, outdoor adventure, or purely a vacation with comfort, style, and grace, the “Pineapple Island” is the place to visit.

Things to do in Lanai:

· Go hiking at Munro Trail and see the breathtaking views of the neighboring islands.

· Rent a four wheel drive vehicle and drive to see the lunar landscape of Keahiakawelo

· Go dolphin watching at the Hulopoe Bay

· Play golf at The Challenge of Manele and The Experience of Koele – two championship golf courses in Lanai

Fifth, voted the “Best Hawaiian Island” and sometimes called the “Valley Isle,” is the island of Maui. There is always something for everyone in the sun drenched island: you can go whale watching, play golf, drive around, or go hiking.

Things to do in Maui:

· Go whale watching and catch a glimpse of a humpback whale

· Drive along the picturesque Hana Highway

· Go picture-taking with the volcanic rock known as “Iao needle” in Iao Valley State Park

· Watch the sunrise atop a dormant volcano, the Haleakala Crater

· Visit museums or spend a day in shops or restaurants in Lahaina

Sixth, it’s all here on the largest and most diverse of the Hawaiian Islands, sometimes called the “Orchid Isle” or the “Volcano Isle.” Referred to by locals as “The Big Island,” it is the most varied, yet least discovered Hawaiian island. For secluded hideaways and adventures that nurture your body and spirit…. come and see what the Big Island of Hawaii has to offer.

Things to do in the Big Island:

View the spectacular active lava flow at Kilauea, in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park

Kayak to a secluded cove, scuba dive, or snorkel in the azure waters of Kona and Kohala

Explore the ancient Hawaiian Religious Temples in Pu’ukohola Heiau

Savor the lush and tropical landscape of Hilo Bay and Queen Liliuokalani Gardens

Enjoy the view atop the snow-capped summit of Mauna Kea

Shop ‘til you drop at the Farmers Market, a great place to hunt for bargains on Hawaiian souvenirs, handicrafts, and presents for friends and family back home

Now that you have gotten to know a little more about Hawaii and its six major islands, pack those bags, book that flight, get away for a while, and go traveling around the Hawaiian Islands… Bon voyage and see you in Hawaii….

Mitchelle Pascual has researched the many possibilities Hawaii has to offer in terms of vacationing and the destination management Hawaii companies can provide.

By: Subhadip B Sural

Why are Prescription Glasses at Traditional Retailers so Expensive?

If you compare the price of the prescription glasses at a Traditional Store to that of an online store, you will see a very stark difference. The price at which a regular store sells a pair of glass is almost 3 to 4 times than that of the online ones. This difference may seem ridiculous to someone, but a close look at the evolution of retail stores and an idea of overheads can easily explain it.

At the very beginning, prescription glasses were used to be sold by stores, which were owned most of the time by the optometrist themselves. The cost of maintaining the store and a small base of customers resulted in a high price of the glasses.

Once the insurance industry boomed, they used this already hiked price of the glasses to come up with high premiums, clubbed under medical insurance which the patient’s employer had to pay.

Slowly the age of the departmental stores came. Like the rest of the businesses, they eroded away the small retail shops. They were able to tap into a giant collection of consumers. One might think that this should have reduced the prices of the prescription glasses. It did. But the reduction was a negligible amount. This was due to two reasons. Firstly, the departmental stores knew how much the customers have been paying for all this time and it looked more profitable. Secondly, the departmental stores themselves had lot of overhead expenses, like employee salaries, lighting, rent etc. which they had to recover through the prices charged on the products.

The internet boom changed everything.

Now, companies can open online stores at very low costs and they can completely do away with the overhead expenses. This has resulted in a lot of savings in expenses and these stores pass on these savings on to the prices of the prescription glasses. This effectively means that the prices are far less than what the customers have sort of got used to for all these years. This has resulted in a boom of online stores selling prescription glasses online and the rates have become really competitive with the customers having a wide range of options to choose from.

Hire a guide and learn about the history of the city. There are lots of weapons, traditional wear, artefacts and antiques on display in the palace. If you are a history buff, this place is for you. Other places to visit in Udaipur are Saheliyon ki bari, Fateh Sagar lake (with a wonderful island garden in the middle of the lake), etc.

Take one day from your trip and visit Chittor which is a few hours drive from Udaipur. It has the imposing fort of Chittorgarh of Maharana Pratap. This place was the battlefield between the Rana and the Mughals. Learn more about the valour of the Rajputs at this place and know what bravery was all about.

Plan your trip well in advance. Read more about Udaipur city on the web and plan accordingly. If you can make a 2 weeks trip possible, you can book yourself on the Palace on wheels train and visit all major cities of Rajasthan.

Diwali Festival is celebrated all over India on October. Normally India is having thousands of local festivals according to local culture and traditions. India is truly a diversified country with multiplies languages and different cultures in various parts of India. Since the Indian civilization is one of the oldest and evolved from different parts of India and joined the festivals very different from one place to another.

Diwali is the Universal Festival of India:

If we study the Festivals of India, we can see lot of variations in the festivals from south to north and east to west. In Kerala you can find onam, in Tamilnadu you can find Pongal,Telegu new year in Andhra Pradesh, Pohela Baishakh in Bengal, Baisakhi Festival for Sikhs etc. Almost all of this festival is totally unknown to states than it is celebrating. In addition, we can see the same festival is celebrated in different parts of the country on same day with different legend. In addition, the celebration will be different. However, the Diwali (Deepavali) is celebrated across the India in every state irrespective of culture and Languages. This makes Deepavali as a universal festival of India.

Deepavali the festival of lights:

Diwali is not the original or correct name of this festival. The correct name of the festival is Deepavali (I think only in Kerala still they use the correct name) and the word Diwali is a short form of Deepavali.Deepam means is the flame of lamp in almost all languages in India. Therefore, as the name suggests on deepavali day the houses will be celebrated with lighted lamps all over India. The temples also will be decorated with lamps and will have a divine look for Diwali. Therefore, as the name suggests we can see on Deepavali day that all houses are decorated with lighted lamps in all over India.Another Tradition is Diwali sweets, which will be prepared and distributed to nears, and dears by every family.

The Story of Diwali:

As normal to other Indian festival diwali also got more than one legend attached to it. As normal in Indian festival diwali also point to Hindu Religion.

Lord Rama returning to Ayodya:-The most famous legend behind the celebrations of Diwali is about Return of Lord Sri Rama (Prince of Ayodya) to Ayodhya after Winning Rama-Ravana war. Lord Ram was staying in forest with his wife Sitadevi for 14 years to full fill his father’s Promise given to one of his wife. At that time The Demon king Ravana of Sri lanka has kidnapped the sitadevi. Therefore, Sri Ramachandra conducted the war with the help of monkey soldiers and won the war. He returned to Ayodhya with his wife Sita and younger brother Lakshmana after completing the promise. To celebrate the joy of this occasion people of Ayodhya decorated their home with lamps to show the love and affection to their Prince. Therefore, from there people of Ayodya started decorating their home with deepam on that day of every year.

Incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi: Once upon a Time The Devas and demons the churning of the ocean, which is known as ‘Samudra Mathan’ by the demons on one side and ‘Devas’ on the other side. Samudra mathan was done in order to extract ‘Amruth’ from underneath of sea, which will help you to live forever. People believe that Goddess Lakshmi (of wealth and prosperity), was incarnated before Amruth from sea on samudra mathan, on the auspicious new moon day, which is ‘Amavasya’ of the Hindi month of Kartik.

Lord Krishna Killed Narakasura: Narakasur was the demon king ruler of Pragjyotishpur, in South of Nepal. He had defeated lord Indra the king of Heaven. He stole the magnificent earrings of aditi Devi Indras Mother. Narakasura also imprisoned thousands of daughters of gods and saints. Lord Indra was a relative of Lord Krishna’s one wife Sathya Bhama. Lord Krishna defeated narakasura and freed all women from his jail. To celebrate this occasion people decorated their houses with Lamps.

Pandavas Returning: – Kauravas (cousins of Pandavas) cheated Pandavas on the game of dice and won. As a result pandavas had to go to forest for thirteen years and should live in absconding for one year. If Kauravas was able to identify them in absconding period, they have to repeat another 13 years in Forest. Pandavas Successfully Completed this and returned to their country to rule again. People all over their Kingdom celebrated this occasion with lamps placed all over the house

Diwali Wishes:

It is a tradition to send Cards, Gifts and Wishes on Diwali. Now a days lot of online sites are there to make this Task easy. You can find some good Diwali Cards with 365greetings.com

Author invites you to visit 365greetings.com for sending Free greetings and birthday cards to your friends and relatives

By: Kate

Once upon a time there was a wonderful currency called the lira. It made millionaires out of paupers and assured a cheap and cheerful stay in the Eternal City. Then came along the sinister Euro and evil exchange rates, and suddenly Rome became comparable to London and New York in terms of prices.

However, there do remain some traces of the ‘old’ Rome and, if you know how, you can have a great value stay in one of the most beautiful capital cities in the world.

1) Hallowed be thy Euro

Rome is brimming with churches which secretly house stunning works by world-famous artists. From Michelangelo and Bernini at St Peter’s Basilica to Caravaggio and Raphael at Santa Maria del Popolo, churches offer a great way to get yourself some free culture.

2) Timing is everything

Try to coincide with Rome’s cultural week (in 2009 it is18-26 April) and you can visit any state run monument or museum for free! Alas, the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel don’t count but if you head there early on the last Sunday of the month you can wander completely gratis (but prepare yourself for some truly spectacular crowds).

3) When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie……

If you’re searching for a good value lunch option look no further than one of the city’s many ‘pizza al taglio’ shops. Huge trays of pizza with a wide array of toppings sold by weight. Pick out your favourites, head to a nearby bench or park and enjoy a cheap and tasty ‘al fresco’ lunch.

4) Get outta town

If you want a break from the tourist crowds hop on a train and take a trip to one of the enticing areas outside the city. In just 30 minutes you could be taking a stroll by the beach in Ostia or sampling the local wine in Frascati. The little towns of Lazio will give you a great value glimpse of the real Italy.

5) Take a hike

Just walking around the city is a great way to get a sense of Rome. Many monuments such as the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps cost nothing and are always open. Who knows which other secrets you might stumble across while getting lost in the back streets? (remember to take a map though!)

6) When in Rome, do as the Romans do

Hotels in Rome are notoriously expensive and often not the most economic option for groups or families. Why not get a real taste of the lifestyle and rent an apartment? Leisure in Rome (www.leisureinrome.com) has a great range of properties all over the city which start from as little as €100 per night.

7) Sample the local produce

Italy is famous for its food so take on a DIY attitude and go grocery shopping! Head to a fruit and vegetable and stock up on interesting salads and succulent fruits. Then find the nearest ‘alimentari’ or supermarket and pick out some local meats and cheeses. After all that effort you will definitely deserve a gelato for dessert.

 Aperitivo baby!

A relatively new social event in the city, the ‘aperitivo’ can be found in many of the capital’s bars and pubs around 6-7pm. Order a drink (usually €6-10) and help yourself to the wonderous selection of free nibbles laid out on the bar. A kind of Italian tapas which, if done well, can save you the cost of dinner.

9) Water, water, everywhere…..

There is a water fountain on every street corner which is perfectly safe to drink and lovely and cold. Simply buying one bottle and then filling up at the fountains is a fantastic way to save those precious centesimi.

10) Wander the alleyways

We all know how lovely it is to have pizza overlooking the Colosseum or gnocchi by the light of Piazza Navona but how much lovelier it is to find that quaint backstreet trattoria where grandpa brings you rough wine in jugs and mamma is kneading pasta in the kitchen. Few places like this still exist in Rome but the best way to get a great dinner at a great price is to wander off the beaten path. Tourist attractions do indeed attract tourists and you’ll pay through the nose for a sub-standard meal. Walk a few blocks and follow your instincts instead of opting for the obvious.

Above all, have fun! Rome is a vibrant, noisy, fun-loving city which will surprise you at every turn. Embrace the chaos and you will have a fantastic time.
